A PREPARED PROFESSIONAL!

Greetings from Gettysburg!

The teaser trailer is being worked on. Soon, it will be another thing off my goal list from July to December. I still have a lot to get done. But I don’t feel like I am being crushed by a time restriction now. God is good! Things are getting done. I am working on creating an online store. This is a very slow process as some of the things are handmade.

But I am truly excited about offering the books in what they call “Blind Date Books.” They come wrapped with extra gifts placed in the pockets. They are really nice. I am working on gathering supplies to add. Each book will have its own theme from their own particular book. The books, of course, can also be bought without all of that. But I want to make them available with it. I will have both at book signings as well.

I am finishing up the remaining four books to add to Kindle, as well as finishing up the 2nd edition of the 1st memoirs book. The Author Media Kit is completed as a download. https://thememoirsofsummerray.com/author-media-kit/ The goal is to be a prepared professional! I am getting back to reading, The Power of the Pitch.

A presentation needs to be professional. But the fact of the matter is simply this. We can only present well, if we feel well. For people who struggle with chronic health issues, this can be extremely tough. Last week was a brutal week for me as I was facing serious shortness of breath. Thankfully, the medicine in a stronger dose worked. But I have to think long term. Where do I want to be a year from now? I want to be healthier than I am today that is for sure. I want to be stronger and have more stamina. I want my skin and hair to look healthier and brighter. I want to have my nails and hands pretty, so that when I do have to stand in front of people, I look nice. I need my posture not to be bent over. I need to stand tall. Pitching isn’t just about the material. It is about the person doing the pitch. I need to prepare today for my future. The project is almost ready to be pitched. But am I? Today? Absolutely not! But thankfully, I have a lot of help from Carole Dean and From the Heart Productions www.fromtheheartproductions.com and all the resources and classes they offer. But no one can prepare me for me. I have to do that myself. I have to take the time for Self-care!

Self-care is the practice of taking action to improve or maintain one’s own health and well-being. This can include a variety of activities such as personal hygiene, healthy eating, regular exercise, and ensuring adequate sleep. Self-care is not merely indulgence; it is a proactive approach to wellness that prioritizes mental, emotional, and physical health.”

I have to mentally and physically prepare myself for what is coming, and that is production; then post production; then distribution; then the episodes. This means a lot of interaction with a whole lot of people. Let’s think about that for a moment. I spend about 75% of my time alone. Then to be thrown into the entertainment world where there is so much going on, if I do not prepare, I will feel like I am being swallowed. I love meeting people at book signings. It’s a very controlled environment. But the bigger the project gets, my ability to handle it also needs to grow. I need to grow with the project. So, I am preparing myself now, for the future! I have never been to Hollywood. I have never even been beyond Tennessee as I live on the East Coast. I plan to travel more once I start my book tours. But its a different world than just sitting at my desk all day. So, I must take a “proactive approach to wellness.” I know what chronic illnesses and injuries feels like. As previously stated, I went through a very bad week. But thankfully, I am better and I am back to working on the project. But I do lose time working. So, I try to spend that time reading about skin care, or how to apply my make-up better. I try to do something productive for my health and well-being. I do not have a daily routine. I must also get consistent with having one. My pitch is only going to be as good as I feel. It isn’t fake it till I make it. It is me doing what needs to be done now, so that I am prepared in the future. But one thing I have finally let go of, is my need to control everything. I can do what I can do, and then I need to let others who are experts in their fields do what they need to do. It’s like the trailer. I did what I could with it. But I needed to send it out, so that others could add their expertise and make it more that what I ever could. I cannot wait to share it!

Thank you for being a part of our Summer Ray world!
