My goal now is to becoming a member of the Writers Guild West. Hopefully, I can do this once the first script is produced and distributed. This opens up a whole new level of dedication for me, to get this first script done. I never cared much about being a producer, although that is what I technically am. But my heart has always been in writing. Someone once said to me, “You’re just the writer.” I am not just the writer of this story, I AM the writer! I always go back to what the great late Stan Lee once said,
“I used to be embarrassed because I was just a comic book writer, while other people were building bridges or going on to medical careers. And then I began to realize: entertainment is one of the most important thing in peoples lives, without it they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you are able to entertain people, you are doing a good thing.”
He wasn’t just a comic book writer, he was one of the greatest writers of all time. They are still making movies about his Marvel Universe, even after he is gone. It’s truly astonishing!
On another note, the props for Summer Ray’s bedroom are almost completed. I am waiting on a painting from our Deaf Consultant, Susan. This will go on the wall in Summer’s room, added with her patch quilt that is finally completed after a year of working on it.
The room just needs a few pictures, posters, books and some paint for the bed and dresser, and we have a scene ready for its characters – this all around $300! When we can find ways to cut the budget that still has quality, we do it. I made the quilt from scraps of old yarn and I didn’t spend anything extra on it. But knowing what the painting and what the colors look like, once it is all put together, the room will look like a million bucks! We just need to now find the perfect Summer Ray, and her best friend Katie and we will! With God’s grace, we keep moving forward and it’s still like that puzzle that I always talk about.
Today, maybe we have five or ten more pieces in place that we didn’t have last week. So, it’s truly exciting! For the quilt we started out with this:
And now we have a finished product (top pic). It will be the same with the pilot. We will have a 2-2 1/2 hour finished film that is distributed worldwide! So, as we move forward, more and more pieces will be put into place, until that last one when we can finally see the film distributed. God is good!!!
Till next time,
