Every time I come across this picture, I can’t help but smile. There is a sunray over our Summer Ray. It just reminds me that God is with us and that He has everything under His control. I have gone through a series of upgrades and more are on the way. But when you are used to the old way of things and thinking, it is hard to change even if those changes are for the better.
My new skates work with me and not against me. Wow! What a difference. I even have a new “smart phone.” I almost took it back because the change from my dinosaur flip phone, to a world of technology was almost too much for my brain to handle. But, knowing what is coming (our funding), I knew I needed to suck it up and just deal with it. But all of these upgrades – “to raise (something) to a higher standard, in particular improve,” have led me to do some serious thinking about the film. My heart is on the ice. I want to someday attend the Adult World Championships in Germany. Which means, I have to train. I cannot be so involved with the film that I lack the time to practice. So, somehow I have to find a way to balance it. I honestly believe my role in all of this is to concentrate on the books. As the author, it is my job to promote them and go on book tours. But, I can still be home in time for practice and to be with my family. The film needs more than what I can give it. It needs to be upgraded to the professionals who will know what to do with it. This doesn’t mean I hand over the rights. I will not sell out. I will still have a hand in it as this is my vision. I just think times have changed. Technology has alloted the use of so many creative processes that we didn’t have years ago. I have to be willing to upgrade the film and the way it is made, in order to make it the best it can be. I have to be willing to step aside and let the experts take it over. There again, I will still have my input. But, in all honestly, this is not something I am supposed to be mirco-managing. I am the writer. Which is what I am. Not only did I write the book series, I wrote the screenplay too. Wow! It’s quite a lot. Most book authors do not write their own screenplays. I am doing what I have excelled in, or doing what I feel is “my element. ”
The book reviews have been outstanding. Which motivates me to more forward. I can go on book tours and leave the film to those who I can trust to make it amazing. Although there are a few things I will not budge on, I have complete confidence we will have an extrememly successful film series. Get excited. We’re upgrading!
Till next time,
Juliana
