It has been almost thirteen years since I first sat down to write volume 1 of my Summer Ray Series, “This Fair and Blighted Land.” As I began re-reading it, I had forgotten a lot of what was in it. Though the script is based on the first half of this book, still not everything written in it is in the screenplay as it doesn’t follow the books word for word. This is the very first Summer Ray book that is no longer in print. Wow! We have come so far since this first print. I remember the day I received the books. I was seriously an amateur but I was pretty proud of them.
Yet over the years the story grew and so did I professionally. But, it is always good to go back to our roots and remember where we came from. I remember why I wrote the story and hopefully, I have been able to express that onto the screenplay as the formatting is so completely different than writing a book. They are two completely different mediums and although I am a very visual person, it took seven years to finish the first script. Thirteen years is a very long time to be working on the same project that has yet to get to production. Heck, the story still isn’t even finished. I am busy also writing the seventh volume. Sometimes I ask myself, “What was I thinking?” I had no idea the story would take on a life of its own and morph into something so huge as what it is becoming. But quite possibly, some people will only get saved by reading the books or watching the movie and episodes. They are my reason for doing what I do. If we can save just one soul, we will have done our job! So, how do I quit when the importance of eternity is on the line? I simply cannot and I will not! God is with this project and He will see it through to the final, “The End!” I can only pray that we touch millions of lives for the good and that Satan will lose big time!!!
