In this business, especially with Indie filmmaking, it can take a very long time to get to the finish product, even longer if you are dealing with a series. This is because all the pieces have to make sense with the previous film or episodes prior. It is not an easy task. But, even film greats like Spielberg, some of his movies have taken 7-8 years to bring to completion. We really have only been working steadily on Summer Ray for about 7 years. During this time the rest of the series was finished, screenplay written, 2nd script almost completed and so many other necessary attributes were also done. We have not fallen behind. We are not delayed, not in the least. But, some people think that just because it has taken over ten years that we are dead in the water. But, take for instance the Gettysburg movie. I read that in estimation, it took close to 17 years to bring this film to fruition. Sadly, at the box office it only grossed around $12,000,000 with a $20,000,000 budget. But, this film is still making funds well into 2019. So that means, 36 years later, this film is still trending. I’d say that is a successful film. People still buy the DVD’s, especially around the anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. This movie will never get old. As long as these battlefields remain, so will the movie. Definitely a success. But it took a very long time to make.
Just because we are still in our development stages of creating Summer Ray, it doesn’t mean that we are not functioning properly, or not moving forward. No! Our sails are still out and we are sailing through this business with confidence that we will reach our destination at the premiere, very soon and quite possibly sooner than we think. It hasn’t always been smooth sailing. But, we rode the storms out the best we could and there is a whole lot of daylight staring us in the face. We are in a good place!
