TILL YOU FIND YOUR DREAM!

There are a few words (among other things) that I would like to talk about. The first word is “impatience.” But let’s talk more about what impatience isn’t…it isn’t patient. It doesn’t have “the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset.” When people get impatient they become restless and can’t relax. They rush and don’t always make the right or the best decisions. Hopelessness can set in and the feelings of, “It will never happen” begin to take over and some people even quit their projects. Or another scenario is, they cut corners and then get upset if their film gets bad reviews. Just keeping it real. But, it’s the truth.

I have learned not to put a time table on my first film. I do believe, however, if this first film is a smashing success than the rest will follow with much greater ease. So, my concentration is not on the series as a whole. But rather on crossing the finish line with the first film. This film needs to be successful. There is no way it can be anything less, or the rest of the series will not be made. It’s a lot of responsibility.

With so many storylines in the film, I have also had to break them down into separate pieces. But also with a two hour film that is 8 – 15 minutes segments. I am learning how not to think of the whole thing or I get overwhelmed. But, I am working with each piece and how to improve it and how to make it easier to process all of the necessary information needed. This also helps with creating a budget. It actually makes it a lot easier to think about with the parts broken down. Those are things a Line Producer will handle. But, I still have to have a close estimate of a projected budget in my Marketing and Business Plans.

I think that quality – a measured degree of excellence vs. medicore – adequate, average or ordinary is what separates the two.  I don’t want my films to be average. But, in all honesty, some filmmakers feel they can’t afford the quality. So, they settle for less. In my opinion that is just laziness. Yoda states: “Do or do not. There is no try!” There are so many resources out there and so many people willing to help. There is no excuse to fail or to give up. You just have to persevere – you have to continue on in your course of action even if you do not yet see any physical results from your hard labors. Even with little or no prospects of success, what do you believe? Seriously, that is the bottom line. What do your insides tell you about your film? Do you believe in it? Because if so…

Climb every mountain
Search high and low
Follow every byway
Every path you know
Climb every mountain
Ford every stream
Follow every rainbow
Till you find your dream
A dream that will need
All the love you can give
Every day of your life
For as long as you live
Climb every mountain
Ford every stream
Follow every rainbow
Till you find your dream
A dream that will need
All the love you can give
Every day of your life
For as long as you live
Climb every mountain
Ford every stream
Follow every rainbow
Till you find your dream
