I have been running this race, of completing the original book series, for over seventeen years. I have to tell you, there were times when I just didn’t feel like running anymore. Lap after lap, year after year, I was literally going in circles. I made this change; that change; redid the book cover 100 times; added this again; took out that again. It was relentless – oppressively constant! I am glad I was able to blog this journey because I plan to, at some point, put them all in a devotional type book. This is in hopes I can encourage others to keep going. I was very oppressed and depressed in January, when I first started this long list of goals that I knew I had to get done by the deadline, which is July 04th. But this was the last lap and I gave it all I had. I am happy to report that I am ahead of schedule and here it is, the final book cover for the 8th book.
I am just about six weeks ahead of schedule. So, I have a little more time to finish the edits and get the 7th and this book uploaded. But I am not in panic mode anymore. Once this book is uploaded and ready for publishing, I will continue with the IngramSpark platform and get the books more exposure. I won’t have the, “What am I supposed to do now?” problem, as I will have plenty to do. But it is a big change. I honestly did not need to panic. I just needed to stay focused. But in the middle of things, I think is the place where people win or lose the battle of crossing the finish line. It is where we decide to quit, or to keep going. I knew God was with this project and I knew I couldn’t just give up. But it was very hard to get through the muck and mire of the unknown and how long is this going to take?
It is an incredible feeling to know the story is complete. It doesn’t mean the story is complete for the live action part of the project, because there are storylines there that are not in the books. So, the new adventure of writing the memoirs in Summer Ray’s first person point of view and the scripts, will begin shortly. I have to finish a film class and take a TV writing class first. Plus, spend some time at Bethany Beach that I love so much.
But this phase of the project will be finally completed and I can smile, and thank God for His goodness!
