“MOMENTUM” is simply defined as “something in motion.” While in Pre-Production of our first feature film, it seemed like an uphill climb. There were even times when it looked and felt like we were stuck, or dangling helplessly off a cliff. At that point, all momentum stopped. As the head of this project, all eyes looked to me for answers. My eyes in turned looked up. “I lift my eyes up to the hills, from whence does my help come. It comes from the Lord, the maker of Heaven and earth.” There is no substitution for faith. When it was weak, I had to get more. “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” It is one thing to know that “all things are possible with God” and that “all things are possible to those who believe.” It is quite another, to have to walk those truths out by faith.
I can say with all honesty, excitement and trust that we have reached the top of Pre-Production’s hill. We are now starting to roll down that glorious hill called “Production” with great momentum, I might add. It took 7 and 1/2 years to get here. It was not an overnight process. I feel the need to say to those reading this blog, if you are working hard at making your dream a reality, please do not give up. Every step we had to take, every stone we had to cross, every river we had to forge, every hill we had to climb, every ocean we had to sail, and every star we had to reach for, prepared us for one word and that word is “QUALITY!”
To create something of quality, excellence, value, worth, class and character takes time. It takes perseverance. Perseverance is defined as “steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.” I am reminded of a pearl. It can take several years for an oyster to produce a pearl. Not only that the oyster is rubbed and agitated by the sand that slipped inside it. Ultimately, a pearl is the result. But authentic pearls, my friends, are a treasure. You might be agitated, nervous, stressed, or even rubbed the wrong way by the process of making your own dream a reality. Don’t you dare give up and quit. You could have climbed further than you thought and you could be reaching the top this very second. How many dreams have been laid to waste due to someone quitting, only God can count. Please do not be another dream quitter. Be a dream finisher! The world needs more people who will go the distance. We need to help others endure the process and truly make this world a better and brighter place to live.
