Health issues suck! There I said it. I have been forced off the ice for a few months as I try to get diagnosed with the right autoimmune disease, and possibly long term COVID complications. But the good news is, it has caused me to re-evaluate what is important to me. First and foremost, my God and my family. Summer Ray is not my entire world. But it is a huge chunk of it. In fact, a lot of my day is surrounded by it. I am the author of the book series, as well as the script writer, and for now the producer. When other producers come on board the project, I will most likely, only be the writer. There is so much talent out there just waiting to find our project that once it is found, I won’t need to be micromanaging. I need to trust my cast and crew, and just know that God is the one who put the project together.
Being off the ice has enabled me to concentrate on other things that also pertain to skating. Things like stretching, strength training, endurance training, ballet, walking and also my diet. I have to slowly make necessary changes that will make me a better skater – health issues and all. I have no plans to quit the ice,

that would be like quitting Summer Ray. I can’t and I won’t! But I do know that I need to listen to my body and work on getting better. So, if I can’t be on the ice for the next two months, I can do a lot of off ice training to make up for it, to get me back in condition for when I return to it. I am actually happy about it because I needed the break. But I am so looking forward to September, when I start skating again. I also know now the feel of my skating program in the film. It will be different than the younger Summer Ray’s part. But very elegant, slower and age appropriate. I will be adding more American Sign Language to my program, to which I am also very happy about. So, sometimes breaks are needed as well as re-evaluations. As far as the project itself, I am thrilled with the script. I feel like we have finally locked it in. Now, it is just waiting on film festivals and hoping for nominations that will lead to awards, which also will help with investors. I am still in the process of editing the books again, to add more sign language. I must keep things consistent. When we added more ASL to the script, I needed to make sure things matched as close as possible in the books. (Not that the script follows the books verbatim. It doesn’t). But I wrote the books, to use as a guideline for the live series. I am finishing up the 8th book, and my mind is already on the first spin off. I don’t see me slowly down anytime soon. We are just getting started!
Thank you for being a part of our Summer Ray world!
