THE MEMOIRS OF SUMMER RAY

Finally, I feel I can breathe a sigh of relief. Throughout this journey, I have had to learn to rely on God’s timing. But also for doing things that didn’t make sense on their own. Oftentimes, I have written blogs about puzzle pieces, and how each piece has a specific place and purpose. But it was hard at times because some of those pieces were left on shelves to collect dust. A lot like the picture below of wine bottles.

Some bottles sit for years waiting to be used. But for a lot of wines, the longer they remain unopened, the better the taste once they are. With Summer Ray, it took a long time for the story to finally be as close to solid as possible. The process in doing so was taxing to say the least. It was also quite discouraging because some of what was done, literally sat on shelves collecting dust… for years! I often would get depressed thinking I had missed God, or that I had wasted a lot of time, money and some of that time and money was someone else’s. I just felt during these stretching and waiting days that I had failed. But I kept doing what I knew to do. I kept on writing/blogging. I kept on upgrading and updating. I kept on learning and studying. I kept on growing the project. Then that one day came when it finally all made sense. I did not know at first what a “Pitch Deck” was until after I had the screenplay professionally analyzed. When the numbers came back really good, it was then time to create this deck. Thankfully, a professional is helping me with it. But there is a lot of information that was needed and when I started to pull what we had off the shelves to include them, I just felt so relieved. Because finally, all the craziness made sense!

“A film pitch deck is a short presentation that introduces a film’s storyline, characters, and visual style to convince investors or studios to back the project. It’s a marketing tool that can be used for short films, feature films, TV shows, and web series.”

With this deck, I will be able to use it to “convince investors or studios to back the project.” Enter in, I am freaking out now! This is huge. It’s like all the sudden, we are close to getting funding. How did that happen? But you see, God is faithful and that is how it happened. I just didn’t know it was happening and most likely why I am both thrilled and terrified at the same time. But one thing I do know is this. I believe in Summer Ray 100%. I get worn out from the work sometimes. But I never get tired of the story. So, onward to distribution and on to the first episode! There is a lot of work ahead and I am ever so thankful that God is with this project.
