FIGURE SKATING AUGUST 16, 2024

After a two month break due to health issues, I finally went back to the rink. What I couldn’t do two months ago, I was able to do again. Although I was shaky, I was still able to skate. I did some power pulls, backwards skating, and a bunny hop. Things two months ago I was too weak to do. So, it was victorious and both Cathy and myself were so, so happy!

I still had to get on my CPAP. But only once.

I was able to skate at least forty minutes total. Two months ago, it was five. This gives me hope that I will still be able to do the older Summer’s skating program. The good thing about it, is that I don’t have to do a full program straight through. It can be filmed in segments. So, I am working on my health. I was diagnosed with “Dysautonomia,” due to “Long Term Covid.” It is a dysfunction with the Autonomic Nervous System – things we do automatically like breathing or swallowing. My coordination is off and as stated above, I was shaky on the ice. But it is something I have to work through. I do have muscle memory, and I was able to do some moves that before I couldn’t. So, this is a huge breakthrough for me. God is good! I didn’t plan to go back until September. But, He knew I was ready. So, I will be steadily working on the skating program as my health improves. I have to think like a competitive figure skater and do what competitive figure skaters do while training. Diet is a huge part of it, strength training, stretching for flexibility, ballet are also factors. I have so much to be thankful for. Some patients are bedridden. I do not take my being able to still walk, and do what I love to do for granted. My only role in the film pilot is Summer’s skating double and I take that very seriously. I could hire someone else to do it. But why? It gives me purpose and motivation.

Till next time,

Thank you for being a part of our Summer Ray world.
