It is for sure, a slow process of improving the project. But I get excited when I see progress and it makes me even more grateful that we haven’t been doing a lot of marketing. When I first started writing the book, (I didn’t know there would end up being eight), I was an amateur. I just had an idea and that idea I knew needed to be on the big screen. I only wrote the books to keep the story fresh in my mind, to give me something to reference. At first, I wasn’t going to publish them.

I have only one copy of the above book. It is the very first, Summer Ray book.

There are twelve years of copywrites to the 2nd book. It is the final (1st book) in the original series. I think now, with all of the rewrites and changes to the book cover, it finally stands out. The interior will also have a new look, as the paper will be cream instead of white. The margins changed too. But I only have myself to blame. I wanted this right and I asked God to help me make it so. My amazing pastor, who went on to be with the Lord, always talked of excellence. Having the script analyzed was very scary. It took over eight years to write. There is an incredible amount of meticulous (showing great attention to detail; very careful and precise) work involved. It is like being a jeweler with those big magnifying glasses and those little tools. We do not really appreciate the effort, just the outcome. But my heart isn’t for you to feel sorry for me. I just want you to be happy with the products that are produced, because they are something you had to pay for. You getting your money’s worth and more, is important. I also have to be proud of what I am creating. But sometimes, it wasn’t my choice or my wanting to change something. Other times, it was my perfectionism. But truly, it has always made the project better. I just want excellence and that does come with a lot of extra mile work!

I have a script meeting with our Fiscal Sponsor this week. The first book, This Fair and Blighted Land, is finished and just waiting for its new ISBN number. I have to unpublish the original series with the Amazon ISBN. Although, I do appreciate the opportunity Amazon gave me as a first time, self-published author, it is time to cut those strings and branch out. I will be adding a store on the www.thememoirsofsummerray.com website as well. I also want to sell the books and other Summer Ray merchandise, and get J. Love Publishing up and running. Perhaps if I had better time management, I don’t know. There are lots of ways to improve my work habits. But I need to improve the management of my time. LOL!
Thank you for being a part of our Summer Ray world.
