In our 15th year of this project and I finally feel like we have a solid foundation. I do not consider the time before this wasted years. I consider it, on the job training. Or as if I have been in college all those years. I have not yet graduated as I feel the book/film industry is always upgrading and changing. But I do finally feel we have reached a point, where we have products that are worthy to be read and to be seen. I didn’t know when I had finished the first seven books of the original series that I would end up replacing it with the new series, “The Memoirs of Summer Ray.” I think God wanted me to have the baseline first, and then build from there. I have only written half of the last book in the first series. So, I will just wait until I get to that point with the new one, and finish it from there.
With the film festivals, I am currently submitting the pilot script and the trailer. But I am also working on, “creating a buzz” around the first book. There are 1,000’s of ways to do this. But those ways are not something I am yet familiar with. I actually receive my first copy of this new cover today, May 25, 2024! I am excited to see it. But I also know if the lines are still off, I will have to keep fixing it until it is as close to perfect as possible.

On another note, marketing is a whole new skill level that I have yet to learn. It is like being an RN and wanting to become a doctor. So, you have to take more classes etc. I have to go through the book and focus on certain traits such as, “American Sign Language,” or “Traumatic Brain Injury,” and find my audiences. “Savannah’s Calling” (book 2 of the first series), the new memoirs book won’t be released until after summer. I feel like I need to get serious about “creating the buzz,” around the first book. https://book-publicist.com/authors-10-must-have-marketing-tips-to-generate-buzz-around-your-book/. I just need to prioritize. It is defined as, “designate or treat (something) as more important than other things; determine the order for dealing with (a series of items or tasks) according to their relative importance.” It hard when I am also working on promoting the script, and at the same time, being in the development phase of the pilot.
I just looked up at my shelf that is right above my desk, and on my shelf is a coffee mug with the words, “YOU ARE THE Bee’s Knees.” What do bees do? They buzz!

It is exciting when God confirms what I am to do. So, for now, it will be creating that buzz surround the books and that will also in turn create the buzz for the film.
Onward!
