The above is a sneak peek of our short video that we are making to submit to film festivals. This short, of course, is to promote the two hour full feature pilot.
My last post was at the end of December 2023. It is nearing the end of January. The struggle has been real. The, “I don’t feel like its,” took their toll me health wise. Doctor appointments became a full time job. Long Term Covid made my previous injury and illness so much worse. I am still climbing out of this hole. But Summer Ray has been a guiding light. I can see the light at the end of a very dark and agonizing tunnel.

My skating for the program, it became almost unbearable as I could barely walk. But I was determined to skate – even if it was just around the rink a few times. Right now, until I can get my portable CPAP, I have to sit for five minutes with the one I use at night that I plug in. I skate ten to fifteen minutes. Then I have to take a break with this on. It helps to open my airway.

I am not a quitter. Skating is part of my soul and I have a job to do with the film. I am the older Summer Ray’s skating double. Sure, I can find someone else. But I refuse to give my dream to someone else. I am going to fight through the struggle and get where I need to be. But just like finding film funding etc., it takes work. This is where those, “I don’t feel like its,” get to me. But having zero energy at times, I guess it is understandable. But I can certainly sit and stretch. I can certainly sit and listen to a film funding podcast by Carole Dean of From the Heart Productions www.fromtheheartproductions.com! I can do something each and every day to move myself toward better health, and to find the film funding. I cannot make excuses. Cathy (my skating coach) and I found that I have not lost my skating skills. I have lost the strength to perform most of them. Which is Covid related. But I can lift a few pound weights at my desk. I can so squats. There are so many things I can do to help myself. I am currently in Physical Therapy – with the CPAP. But I show up, even when I can only work the bike for five minutes. At least, my body is doing something good for itself. I show up, even if I can only do one scene at a time. Thankfully, for the new short, all of the snow scenes are done. So, I have a bit of a break. We have to wait till the ground dries from all that snow. But I am already planning the next scenes; location, wardrobes etc. We are also planning our Summer Ray Extravaganza. https://thememoirsofsummerray.com/book-signings-other-events/. We need to raise funds for part of this short. It will be submitted to film festivals and we need to do it right. It doesn’t replace our Proof of Concept video www.thememoirsofsummerray.com. But this short is more along the lines of what the actual two hour full feature pilot will look like and it’s exciting!
So onward!!!
We will be starting our 15th year on February 09, 2024! I will never forget what Carole Dean once told me. “TENACITY IS THE BACKBONE OF A FILMMAKER!”
“Tenacity” is defined as, “the quality or fact of being able to grip something firmly; grip; persistence; determination; perseverance!” We are not letting go of this project.
We are determined and persistent to see it through to, “The End!”
