SETTLED AND AT PEACE!

I have officially driven myself crazy. But in a good way – sorta! I thought I was finally done with the front cover design of the books. So, I ordered a few copies. When I opened the box, my first impression was the right impression. When I was designing the cover, I was looking at both the front and back at the same time. But had I just looked at the front cover, I would have seen that there was indeed, way too much blank space. I asked my boyfriend Jason and he agreed. I needed to fix it. So, it was back to the drawing board!

I think I have finally figured my life out! I will be ordering these books and I feel very settled and at peace that this is the final design!

Over the years, I have learned a lot about book design, especially when there is a series, each book needs its own background color. I learned about ISBN’s and barcodes, logo’s, having a brand, which font is best to use (provided it doesn’t need a commercial license), what the interior color should be for a novel, and the need for an LLC. I am very tenacious in that I want things right. I don’t want anyone buying something that isn’t what I feel is my best. But the thing is, over the years, what was my best back then, wouldn’t be my best today. It’s because I have grown more knowledgeable as time passed. So, I can’t think of the past years as wasted. I can think of them as growth. It may have been extremely difficult to have to start over again when my other designer and I parted ways, but I took that as an opportunity to make the books inside and out, even better. I may not know how to add my barcode or my logo, but I did the next best thing. I ordered pressure sensitive barcodes and logo stickers. So, when I sell the books directly, I can stick them on the back of the book and they will be good to go! I can’t do anything about the ones that Amazon sells directly. But my ISBN is still on the back. So, all is well! I know this story has come a long way since its conception. I know there is a lot of work to do before the July deadline getting that last book released. But I am confident with God’s help, I will meet it! Well, back to work! Just keep moving forward!!!
